Heckington Show Weekend Beer Festival
Heckington's 8 Sail brewers, Tony and Steve, put on 12 beers and a cider for the beer festival over the week end of Heckington Show. The weather was kind allowing imbibers to sit out in the garden and savour the ales, and catch up with friends old and new.
8 sail had 5 of their brews on ranging from Windmill Bitter, 8 Sail Ale,Gold 'n' Porter (it's all in the name), Sail Away - brewed in the style of a German Kolsch beer, at 5%, to the whacking 7.3% Pacific Union - the second of the Deacon John Ales series.
The other ales on were Axholme Darley's Ghost, Black Horse Black Frog, Dark Tribe Old Gaffer, Fulstow Bramling Pale, Grafters Old Knacker, Leila Cottage Ace Ale, and Spire Brewery Brassed Off. The cider was Churchill Fenland Gold, from Spalding All beers served in good condition - no doubt kept cool by their barrel jackets.
Visits by the steam engine road roller to take on beer and a drop of water completed the summer picture.
