Campaign for Real Ale

November 2021 - Surfleet & Pinchbeck

On a breezy but bright day a few Fen folk met up at the Crown at Surfleet for their Autumnal walk. Ship, Pinchbeck

Rosemary led off the band over the river bridge, along the road then off down a minor road, across paths and eventually the half way house, the Ship, at Pinchbeck. After the usual photo shoot, the landlord kindly opened up at noon and the Fenlanders were offered face masks for those without. The beers on offer were Ghost Ship, Silence of the Lambs and the Rev James. All three beer lines were pulled through, a barrel changed and ales dispensed, all in excellent condition.

The return journey was along the bank of the River Glen then back to the Crown where Ghost Ship and Grainstore beers were on good form. Lunch was a roast of choice along with the usual Crown of 15, or was it 16, different fresh vegetables. Glasses were raised in remembrance of past Fenland members, in particular Rodney, Martin, and Bob (Neish).

A toast was proposed to thank Heather and Rosemary for organising an excellent day out.
