July 2023 - Hagworthingham
The delectable dozen met at the George and Dragon, Hagworthingham on a blustery warm Sunday.
Unfortunately the pub had informed the walk / pub organiser just a few days prior that it would be closed that day. So no beer nor lunches - fearfully a Fenland first! No matter, the group trekked on, crossing the ford and taking the challenging footpath to the start of Snipe Dales Country Park. Various tracks and paths, crossing bridges and streams in the park until the CP facilities were thankfully reached.
The return via further tracks and the wildlife pond led eventually to the boulder and plaque marking the Greenwich Meridian exact line of longitude. When the trekkers returned most decided to lunch at JJ's the renowned cafe - an excellent choice - no beer of course but several planned a stop off in Horncastle and its hostelries, to avoid an ale free day.
