May 2024 - Donington
On the hottest day of the year, so far, the Secret Seven set off from the Black Bull, Donington, crossed the road and then posed next to the statue of Matthew Flinders and Trim, his cat, for a further photo shoot.
Rosemary then led the troops to the St Mary and the Holy Rood Church, pointing out various interesting landmarks on the way. Out then into the agricultural countryside taking in field paths and minor roads and tracks with nearby Bicker and wind farms. A memorial to a crashed Lancaster Bomber and its lost crew, in the war, at the side of a field was an emotional sight.
Onwards along minor roads back to Donington and a chance to quench thirsts at the Black Bull with 5G, XB and more. A grand lunch was taken - at an even grander price! Glasses were raised to thank Rosemary for arranging the day and a toast was made to Fenland CAMRA.
