Fenland Camra celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Saturday 22nd June at the 8 Sail Brewery Bar. 8 Sail had a special celebration ale on one of their hand pumps and this was enjoyed by all, as were the other beers on offer. Many friends of Fenland, old and not so old, met up and toasted our founder member Rodney Girdlestone, sadly no longer with us. Rodney helped set up the Branch on 21st June 1974 at the Bull, Market Deeping.

At the get together for the 50th Heather had provided lots of memorabilia, photos of various activities over the years including beer festivals the Branch had run.  Copies of Pub Mirror, the Branch newsletter, edited by Rodney, were also on show - these ranged from 1990s - 2009 editions and reflected the activities.

Among the members celebrating was Stuart Bateman who enjoyed a tour of the 8 Sail Brewery by head brewer Paddy Bauwens.

Looking to the future Fenland Branch require new, younger and enthusiastic members to keep it going.
