Good Honest Tales: 150 Years of Batemans Brewery

Thursday 18 July 2024

The Society for Lincolnshire History & Archaeology (SLHA) is delighted to host an on-line talk ‘Good Honest Tales: 150 Years of Bateman’s Brewery’ presented by Adam Cartwright on Wednesday 31st July at 7.30pm.

This year the independent Bateman’s Brewery will celebrate its 150th anniversary. Nestling beside the Steeping River in the little town of Wainfleet, Lincolnshire, Batemans’ Salem Bridge Brewery forms a traditional English scene with its ivy covered windmill whose image is Bateman’s symbol to this day. Batemans has been a family business through the last 150 years from small beginnings to become famous for their award winning ‘Good Honest Ales’ which are mainly available in the East Midlands, Yorkshire and East Anglia.

You are invited to join us on-line and listen to Adam give an illustrated talk describing the fascinating story of the development of the Brewery from its early beginnings through to the present day. Adam has written a book with the same title as his talk and this is available for purchase at the Society bookshop 2-3 Steep Hill, Lincoln LN2 1LS.

The talk is at 7.30pm on Wednesday 31st July on zoom and admission is by donation using the link below or through www.slha.org.uk
