March 2012 - Castle Bytham
Thirteen of us set off from the Fox and Hounds in Castle Bytham in glorious sunshine. The walk took us uphill and it wasn't long before jumpers were shed as the heat got to our little fenland legs. Luckily there was a place to stop for a lovely view down into the village and for some to catch their breath.
Half way round the walk a breakaway group thought they could find an alternative route back to the pub, but only managed a detour around the woods and then back to the original route. It was an interesting walk as we saw Red Kites, deer, a fox, llamas and ostrich along the way.
In the village we went first to The Castle where there was a choice of 6 real ales and then onto the Fox and Hounds for 4 different ales and a lovely roast lunch. Thanks to Dean and his staff for their hospitality.
