July 2017 - Quadring
The first X1 turned out last Sunday in shorts, sun hats, and sandals at Grove Farm House, Quadring, where Heather had arranged gazebo, tables, chairs and flowers in her courtyard, as well as ensuring that the sun shone all day.
After a rapid 5 shot photoshoot by Tui, our leader Heather took the team out down the road then off across field tracks and by the village church. Further paths and minor roads in hot dry conditions saw the trekkers pass crop fields of beans and barley, gardens of colourful flowers and the telegraph pole with the notice and photograph pleading with the reader that "Oscar needs a new home". NB feline friends should apply to Tui to check if their proposed abode will suit the painfully shy Oscar.
On reaching the ever friendly White Hart and its long standing landlord the troops traipsed in and ordered beer, stout and soft cold drinks. Doom Bar was the ale on offer but nonetheless kept in top condition and downed with gusto.
On return to Heather's Miranda and Tui had set out an excellent spread and everyone enjoyed 2nd or 3rd helpings washed down with beer and wine. Many thanks to Heather and the girls for providing such a grand day. Whilst Rocky and Hudson prowled and lazed warily in the sun.
