October 2012 - Ropsley
Fenland's finest (well 15 of them) met at the Ropsley Fox in lovely autumn sunshine and set off through Ropsley village into Church lane then field pathways over the first of many footbridges and stiles, and through Kirton Wood full of autumn colours beginning to turn. Buzzards were spotted high on thermals and a woodpecker distinctly heard amoungst the trees. The pretty hamlet of Little Humby, with its ford, was reached and the return via grass fields and wooded footpaths to Ropsley was an ideal route, especially at this time of year.
The welcoming Green Man provided Oldershaws Newtons Drop and Heavenly Blonde - all most welcome to the thirsty walkers. Lunch was taken at Ropsley Fox where Everards Equinox, Cumberland Ale, and Harvest Pale were found to be on good form, as was the lunch.
