December 2012 - Ancaster
The December walking wanderers met up at Woody's Bar in Woodland Waters, Ancaster on a bright sunny morning and then pottered past the pools, crossing a molehill covered field and past the church. Across the main road and looping round Ancaster Valley Nature Reserve, where legend has it that Roman Chariots used to race, they returned to Ancaster to visit the Railway. On offer was Black Sheep and Milestone Dasher & Flasher (4.5%) which was found to be particularly dark and brooding (but not broody)!
After boots were replaced a short shamble back to Woody's Bar for Youngs Bitter and Courage Directors and a carvery. It was particularly pleasing to be able to welcome Wendy back for the week-end, when she was able to catch up with Fenland friends old and new.
The picture shows the group outside Woody's overlooking the lakes.
